Internships for international students in Ireland

Similar to our Voluntary Work Placement programs, Language Xchange Ireland also offers internship or traineeships programs. Whilst Voluntary Work Placement programs are typically 2 to 4 weeks in duration, internships are designed for people, generally 17 years old upwards, wishing to undertake a work placement of 4 weeks or longer. These programs are suited to people with very high levels of motivation and maturity who are willing to fully engage in the work environment in order to gain maximum benefit from the experience. Traineeships are funded by the European Commission - World For Youth.

This program is ideal for students looking for an Internship, work experience, work placement or Erasmus mobility in Ireland.

We match our clients studies & skills with a specific work placement, in a relevant Irish company, in line with Erasmus / PON / Movetia objectives

Our Internship Programs are based on the same multi-tiered structure as all Language Xchange Ireland programs, consisting of five core elements:

- Free 45 hrs E-Learning Package prior to arriving in Ireland (Optional to individuals)
- Internship / Traineeship
- Irish Host Family for duration of stay in Ireland
- Access to local social events
- A Cultural Tours

Opportunity to meet our other clients & students from over 10 EU countries that come to LXI monthly.

Although Internship Work Placements are voluntary, we strongly encourage work placement providers to pay an allowance to students who are placed with them for more than 6 weeks duration, to assist with day-to-day costs during the remaining weeks of placement.

Above all -- LXI has a strong list of Host Family Accommodation throughout the Southeast and Leinster region of Ireland. Our programs come with accommodation which is Ireland No.1 'stress factor' removed from your plans. Currently accommodation is twice as difficult to obtain over an company internship, regardless of your budget.

Ireland - the best quality of life in the world:

In 2005, a study conducted by The Economist found that the Republic of Ireland had the best quality of life in the world. From 1995 to 2007, Ireland went through a period of high economic growth giving the country the title of the "Celtic Tiger." Recently, Ireland was hit by the 2008 global recession. However, the country is well on its way to recovery as its ranking as the fifth wealthiest in the OECD-28 clearly shows.

An economy that is on the fast track to recovery is just one of the reasons Ireland makes for a great place for internships abroad. Among the other reasons: the rich cultural history, the active nightlife, the friendly residents, the tradition of Irish pubs, the country's passion for sports, and all the famous faces to have come from Ireland - Pierce Brosnan, Colin Farrell, Gabrial Byrne, Bono, James Joyce and Oscar Wilde to name a few. Given all the above-mentioned reasons, it's no wonder Ireland receives 6.4 million foreign tourists every year. There's also no doubt that interning in Ireland is worth experiencing for everyone!

As with all Language Xchange Ireland programs, our aim is to provide an experience that is exciting, rewarding and fun!
