Let us walk you through the seven steps which are typically involved in completing the Erasmus programme application process:

  • Check Eligibility: Before applying, ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria set by your home institution and our institution here in Ireland. Typically, you must be enrolled in a higher education institution that participates in the Erasmus program.

  • Nomination: In most cases, you need to be nominated by your home institution to participate in the Erasmus program. Your home institution will provide you with information on how to apply and any specific requirements or deadlines.

  • Application: Once nominated, you'll need to submit an application to your home institution's Erasmus coordinator. The application may include documents such as a motivation letter, academic transcripts, language proficiency certificates (if applicable), and a learning agreement outlining the courses you plan to take in Ireland.

  • Selection: After receiving applications, your home institution may have a selection process to choose candidates for Erasmus placements. Selection criteria may include academic performance, language skills, and motivation.

  • Acceptance: If selected, you'll receive a Letter of Acceptance or Confirmation from both your home institution and the receiving institution in Ireland. This letter confirms your placement and provides details such as the duration of your stay, courses you'll be taking, and any additional requirements.

  • Pre-Departure Preparation: Before departing for Ireland, you'll need to complete any pre-departure tasks, such as arranging accommodation, obtaining health insurance, and applying for a student visa (if required).

  • Mobility Period: Once you arrive in Ireland, you'll attend an orientation session organised by the receiving institution, where you'll receive information about academic and administrative matters, as well as practical tips for living in Ireland.

  • Learning Agreement: During your mobility period, you may need to finalise your learning agreement, ensuring that it reflects any changes to your course selection or study plan.

  • Stay in Touch: Throughout your Erasmus experience, stay in contact with your home institution's Erasmus coordinator and the international office at the receiving institution. They can provide support and assistance if needed.

  • Completion and Transcript: After completing your Erasmus placement in Ireland, ensure that all required documentation, such as transcripts and certificates, are provided to your home institution for recognition of credits earned during your mobility period.
